Lobsters & Kayaking

We’re still here…seems strange after Labor Day to still have over a month before the campground closes.  Some of the shops in town are starting to close & activities are closing or changing to a lighter schedule.

Since our last update…John cracked his head open.  He was doing pump-outs at work and hooked up a motorhome then stood up and slashed his head open on the corner of the slide out.  He got a ride to the hospital and 10 staples.IMG_20120724_145634

Dorothy (my co-worker from R&R) & Ernie were vacationing in Maine and stopped by to visit. It was great to see old friends, even though we were working & didn’t have much time with them.

We enjoy Bar Harbor when we have time off and get a chance to go downtown for lunch.

This is Barb & Larry…She’s head of Housekeeping & he’s head of Maintenance…Annie (The Princess) is just Head of Everything!

Larry is a great Lobster cook too.

We’re very lucky to have had a wonderful crew of workampers this year.

The sunsets are getting earlier now….

Today they started to pack away the rental kayaks and we had never taken one out!  So, we took off work early and jumped in a double-seater kayak.  Neither of us had ever been kayaking before & it was on the list of things we wanted to do this summer.  We paddled up the shoreline for about 45 min.

The highlight of the trip was these two Bald Eagles

When we came back they were in separate trees

It was pretty much a perfect day for spending out on the water.

So far, the plan is still to leave here on Oct 24th.
