Today we took off in search of Wineries & Waterfalls. We had 3 wineries & 2 waterfalls mapped out.
The first waterfall was a failure…GPS kept saying turn down Falls Point Rd…but there was no road.. We drove around the area for a while…no signs…no indication of any waterfall.
We continued on to Bartlett Maine Estate Winery.
We tasted 12 different fruit wines…Pear, Apple, Blueberry wines. Pretty good stuff, but a lot pricier than the other wineries we had visited at $19 – $46. We didn’t buy anything.
The we drove to Sprague Falls. The GPS coordinates took us down to a dead end, then we parked and walked down a path to the river. It wasn’t much of a waterfall…more like a river running through rocks.
But it was pretty and the weather was perfect, so we enjoyed it.
From there we went on to Catherine Hill Winery. Nice place, but like Bartlett winery, all the fruit is imported, nothing is grown on the property. We did buy a nice bottle of Chardonnay for $15.
Then we drove on to Shalom Orchard Organic Farm & Winery.
This is a large organic farm and all the wines are produced from fruit grown on the property, except the cranberry. We bought a bottle of Blueberry wine here for $12. This made our 6th winery, so we got our free Maine Winery Guild hats!
It was a fun day & we stopped to get the dogs a cheeseburger on the way home. There’s still 12 more wineries on the Maine Wine Trail….

Looks like you guys had a fun-filled day !! Phoebe and Hannah are so cute ... lol
Nice hats! What do you get if you visit the other twelve? Again, pretty photos of the area!
We did have fun! If you visit 12 of the wineries you get a free set of wine glasses. We don't really have room for wine glasses, and John just breaks them, so we've changed over to acrylic ones.
Love the tongues hanging out. And that is a great picture of you Diane. Not a wine drinker but if you get to visit the fingers lake area in NY - lots of great wineries there.
We did visit that area a couple years ago, Sandie. Since grapes don't seem to grow well here, many of the wineries buy grapes from that area to make their wines.
