Out & About Bar Harbor

We’ve had spectacular weather here lately.  It finally stopped raining and warmed up into the high 70’s low 80’s, perfect for some sightseeing.  The lobster prices are dropping, Soft Shell lobsters were $3.99 a pound this week.

We went out for lobster with our neighbors Ann & Sue last week.  Ann doesn’t eat fish or seafood, but Sue wanted lobster…just wasn’t sure how to eat a whole one.  I was happy to give lessons.

We had a great dinner…Ann had a hot dog, but did take one bite of lobster.

We took the dogs and spent the afternoon up at Acadia National Park on one of our days off last week.

Drove to the top of Cadillac Mountain, then stopped for a picnic on the way down.

This week we went into Bar Harbor on Thursday and had lunch.  I had a Whale Tale Pale Ale at the Thirsty Whale…say that 3 times fast!  We stopped by Fiore and tasted an amazing assortment of Olive Oils & Balsamic Vinegars.

Then we went for a sail on the Margaret Todd.  It was a perfect day for the 2 hour trip.  John even volunteered to help hoist the sails…that’s him in the red shirt & hat over on the right.  We had a great time and the best part was, it was free!  They give complimentary trips to KOA workers since the campground sells tickets for their cruises.

Not much out there but some seals sunning

Today we drove up to Bangor and stopped at PETCO for dog food then visited a couple on wineries on the Maine Wine Trail.  We went to Dragonfly Farm & Winery first.  Then we stopped for lunch between wineries and the dogs got to split their weekly cheeseburger

Then we went to Younity Winery & Vineyards.  Turns out they only offer tastings on Sat & Sun, but the owner was there and brought us in anyway and presented 5 of his wines, then gave us a tour of the vineyard.

We bought a bottle at each of the wineries we visited.  Prices are very reasonable at these wineries, $12 & $13 bottles.  We had planned on visiting one other, but it was 4:30 when we got done with the second one and we were about 90 minutes from Bar Harbor so we headed on home.

It was an enjoyable two days off…tomorrow it’s back to work.

Wow - I'm so jealous! I know you're having a great time and all the lobster you can eat to boot. We must have your rain ' cause it's rained everyday since Sunday - heavy thunderstorms. My backyard has been classified as wetlands. The grass grows between storms but is too wet to mow. Glad you're having fun - keep sending photos; it's so pretty there. Do you miss your roadrunner?

I hope you get a break in the rain soon, we had so much of it the first month here, I was ready to leave ~ LOL!

I do miss the roadrunner :(

I would have been eating the hot dog along with Ann. Just not a lobster fan. It looked like a gorgeous day on the water.
