We made it to CT on Tuesday, Jun 30. Spent a couple days at a campground, to do laundry and dump & fill the tanks. CT doesn’t seem to offer a lot in the way of campgrounds where we needed to be, but we got a place in Thomaston for Wed & Thursday nights. We had a welcome committee of ducks that napped in front of our motorhome…..until Phoebe went for a walk and chased them all away.
John’s brother Pat & his girl Chris came over for a visit. Naturally Scruffy crawled up in Chris’s lap and took full advantage of the free massage.
Today we met one of John’s old shipmates from the Coast Guard and had lunch with him & his wife. John & Tom hadn’t seen each other since 1973! They found each other on a military website a few months ago.
Tonight we’re taking advantage of the free RV parking at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Eastern CT. This casino is amazing….HUGE! The RV lot sits up on hill overlooking a lake. It’s all free parking, you sign in and get a permit to park and there’s free shuttles down to the casino and 24 hour security patrols…can’t beat it! We’ll probably stay here for 2 nights, unless we move to another casino tomorrow. :) Here’s a couple shots of our view from the parking lot.
There’s about 30 RV’s parked up here tonight. Supposedly, there’s a good fireworks show planned for tomorrow so we should have a great view of that.
Monday is the appointment at the Winnebago repair place then we head to Maine…FOR LOBSTER! :)
