Today we rolled in to Hershey, PA :) We got a campground about 4 miles from Hershey Park with a shuttle service to the park. It’s a huge place with a big amusement park too. We just wanted to do the World of Chocolate tour and take the trolley ride around the town.
The tour inside was cute, you ride in a little train through a mockup of the Hershey factory, while they tell the story of how the chocolate is made. It was free and about 15 minutes…complete with singing cows.
Then we took a trolley ride around the town which included way too much, extremely corny comedy skits by the tour guide & assistant. To top it off there were sing alongs during the trip…needless to say, it was a very long and painful 45 minute tour for us. The information was good though. Mr. Hershey was a very interesting man and did a lot for others with his money.
After the trolley we did a little shopping. We got chocolate bars with our picture on the wrapper ~ LOL!
and had a snack…Lots to choose from
but I just had a sundae and John had a vanilla cone.
Tomorrow we leave for Gettysburg. We’re staying at Artillery Ridge Campground, where they have stables, and taking the 2 hour battlefield tour on horseback. Bill & Jan wrote about doing this in their blog a few weeks ago and we loved the idea. It’s been years since either of us have been on a horse, so we probably won’t be able to walk for a month after we’re done, but we’re excited.
