Day 3

We left Skagway around 9:00 am Saturday morning, shortly behind Randy & Jackie.  We met up with them just before the Canadian border and hitched up the cars.  We decided it would be easier to drive  the car separately up to the summit.

I cried most of the way to the border…leaving Scruffy, leaving friends, and leaving the magnificent views.  It didn’t help that it was a gorgeous sunny day.

We followed Randy & Jackie till they turned off on Hwy 37, the Cassiar.

Finally got to see a family of Grizzly Bears, they were shy and I only got a picture of this one.

We continued on through Watson Lake, since they don’t allow overnights at the Visitor Center, and parked for the night just south of Contact Creek.     It was quiet and deserted except for a bison feeding next to us.  We traveled 358 miles.

Sunday was through the Rocky Mountains.  We saw lots of wildlife and SNOW!  We drove in and out of snow flurries from Liard Hotsprings to just past Toad River.

We stopped for the night in Fort Nelson, same RV park we stayed at on the way up…Triple G Hideaway Park.  We traveled 268 miles today, pretty good considering the weather & terrain.

I had this ready to publish last night, but the WiFi isn’t working here at our RV Park.  Apparently they’ve been having problems with it for a couple months.

Stopped for lunch in the parking lot of the Visitor Center in Fort St John and used their WiFi. We plan to go through Dawson Creek and head towards Edmonton today.
