We’ve been here…the middle of nowhere…for two weeks now. Getting used to the schedule, the heat, and the dust. Actually, today is the first day it hasn’t been forecast to be over 100 degrees since we got here. Our high today is supposed to only be 91 and that continues for the next week…maybe Fall is finally here.
We got the signal booster and it does seem to help a little with the Verizon phones. I still don’t have enough signal to make a call, but I can send & receive text messages when it’s on. The phone that the company loaned us is working fine now, so we have communication if we need it.
I actually really like it here…I enjoy the solitude and the wide open space, the roadrunners that visit and tease the dogs, and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. It would be nice not to have to drive so far to do laundry and grocery shop, but that’s tolerable. With my food restrictions, I feel pretty lucky that I can do grocery shopping just 44 miles away. There is a HEB grocery in Pearsall, but they don’t have any organic produce or meat, so I go to Uvalde to the SuperWalmart. They carry a fair selection of organic produce, antibiotic-free chicken, and organic half & half for our coffee. We have a good supply of meat from Whole foods in the freezer and I can always make the 2 hour trip to San Antonio if necessary.
All things considered, it’s a great paycheck to be sitting in your home all day, and occasionally go out side to open a gate to get a signature…beats the heck out of working for a living.

So glad to hear you guys are liking the peace and quiet. That would be my kind of job but Jim needs to be fishing when he's not sleeping or working. Growing up in Montana a two hour drive is really not that bad. Now it seems like forever but still doable.
Unfortunately, there's no place to do any fishing around here ~ LOL!
