We crossed the border around 2:00pm on 4/15/10. It was more of an ordeal than we expected. You drive up to the border crossing and get 20 questions from the booth operator. She hands you a slip of paper and tells you to pull into one of the bays and take the paper inside. Then they come & get your keys to do an inspection of your “home” while you sit inside and wait…It’s very unsettling. They spent about 20 minutes in Randy & Jackie’s coach and then it was our turn. We had to get the dogs out before they went inside, so we just walked around outside, with the dogs until they were done. Everything was fine and they didn’t even care that my Mint & Basil plant was in the shower.
Once we were all cleared, we headed on. Verizon went into roaming as soon as we crossed the border so the phones were shut off. We drove to Hope, BC and got a spot at small RV park for the night. They said they had Wifi…but it was a lie ~ LOL.
This is the Fraser River, just across the street from our campground.
Here’s Scruffy enjoying the outing after a long days drive.
Phoebe refuses to pose for the camera when there are so many new smells to investigate.
Another view of the river….cause it so beautiful!
John walking over from the campground
April 16th…we took off around 9:30 am. Here we are, following the Lamberts. Since our only GPS is on our Verizon phones….and they don’t work here…Jackie is doing the navigating.
The scenery is amazing. This is Lake Kamloops
We stopped at a roadside park for lunch and there were two bald eagles flying overhead. Of course, I didn’t get a picture of them….or the grey wolf we saw beside the road.
We drove 283 miles today and stopped for the night at Williams Lake Visitor Center. They allow overnight parking for RV’s and supposedly have WiFi. We’ll see…
Here’s our view of the lake from the parking lot
And here we are….resting for a night
I’ll post this as soon as I get an Internet connection. Remember you can click on any of the pictures to get a bigger view. I’ll post updates when I can.
