Friday we left Watson Lake and drove 269 miles to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. The roads were good and the weather was perfect. We finally did see our first moose, but he was too quick and we didn't get any pictures of him. :(
We went to Walmart and did a little shopping. Canadian Walmart's aren't near what we're used to...they don't have Super Walmarts here, and the selection & prices are hard to swallow. We spent the night in the parking lot and left early Sat morning for the last leg of the trip.
We made it to Skagway and got parked in our new home. The RV Park is owned by the company we'll be working for, and all the residents are people that have been hired to work here for the summer. Everyone's nice and we finally got to meet some others (Escapees) that we had been in contact with through email. We got parked then went into town to meet the boss. We found the office and Jerry & Mickie were there working. We filled out necessary paperwork then Jerry took us on a tour of the stores that Corrington owns. We'll have an employee orientation once more of the workers arrive. We then headed out to check out he town....first stop was The Sweet Tooth Cafe for lunch. John & Jackie had a burger, Randy had a reuben and I had a halibut sandwich...really good food. Then we went to the only grocery store in town.....Hallelujah, I found drug-free chicken, cream, buffalo meat and cheese...I can eat here! Prices are a little higher than we're used to, but cheaper than Canada. We made a few more stops around town then headed back to the RV Park to get settled in and relax. We got hooked up with WiFi & Satellite TV. We don't get the local channels but we get Food Network & QVC...the important ones ~ LOL!
I'll take some pictures of the park & town and give another update later this week.
